Reflective roof coating and thermal render for facades

A metal roof passes 70 °C in summer and hands that heat to the space below all day. Conventional insulation means stripping the roof or dropping the ceiling; a coating means neither.

Roofs and facades

Roofs

A reflective coating returns most of the solar radiation before the sheet even heats up. On a residential Colorbond roof in Australia exactly this was done — the existing roof stays and the work is from above.

Facades and interior walls

Thermal render for masonry is applied to the facade or to the inner face of the wall. Where a building is listed or the street facade may not be altered, interior application is often the only solution that gets approved.

No loss of usable area

The layer thickness is an order of magnitude below an external insulation system. In a 50 m² flat that is the difference between an insulated and an uninsulated wall, with no square metre lost.

Damp and mould

A cold wall collects condensate in corners and behind furniture. The coating raises the wall surface temperature and removes the condition for mould, instead of washing it off again and again.

Smaller structures

On a caravan renovation in Australia the same system was applied to a small unit — the principle does not change with area, only the quantity does.
