Thermal coatings for mining equipment and compressor stations

Mining equipment works far from the workshop, in dust and in the open, and downtime caused by insulation that has fallen apart costs more than the insulation itself.

What it solves

Compressors, exhaust lines and gas equipment heat the space around them and pose a burn risk to crews working in confined areas. The coating lowers the outer surface temperature and stays on equipment that vibrates, because it is elastic and bonded to the substrate rather than wrapped around it.

Three projects for the same client

Pulford Air & Gas commissioned three separate projects, one of them for BHP. A repeat order from the same client is the only reference that really counts in mining.

Resistance to site conditions

Dust, impact and mechanical damage are routine. The coating is repaired on site, without stripping cladding and without special equipment — the maintenance crew does it themselves.

Corrosion in the open

For ferrous metals a water-based primer is used, and for more exposed positions an acrylic topcoat that holds its colour in the sun.

Pulford Air requested thermally insulated containers with a green finish; a thin layer of C-COAT was applied followed by a coloured topcoat and multiple containers were delivered.

Pulford Air & Gas ordered more heat-protected HQ structures for BHP, this time applied at C-COAT facilities and delivered to Pulford for assembly and shipment to Western Australia.
