Thermal protection in aerospace and defence
In aerospace, insulation is always a trade-off against mass. A coating measured in tenths of a millimetre changes that calculation.
What it solves
Thermal protection has to fit into geometry that is already designed, without added mass and without altering the shape. The coating follows the surface and asks for no space that was not planned.
Virgin Galactic
The coating was applied on a Virgin Galactic spacecraft project. That reference speaks to the demand for formulation consistency and repeatable application rather than to volume.
Defence industry
For military equipment in the field, thermal signature, crew compartment temperature and metal protection under field conditions are all in play. The system is assembled to the requirement, with a primer and topcoat matched to the exposure.
Colour to specification
Laboratory colour matching to RAL codes is available, which in defence and aerospace work is usually a condition rather than a choice.
How to proceed
These applications are not sold off a list. Send the requirement, operating temperatures and the documentation you need, and we take it to the manufacturer's engineers.

Colour matching to RAL code paints in Laboratory in Australia
A client request to match RAL colour codes was carried out at the Sydney facility, where the water-based coating had to be dried before matching and preformatted RAL formulas from the OEM tint supplier were adopted.

Virgin Galactic space shuttle project
After two years of cooperation with The Spaceship Company (later Virgin Galactic), C-COAT's thermal insulating coating was implemented on a space shuttle to protect against extreme re-entry heat.
